Blockchain companies are sprouting like mushrooms in the Netherlands. At the beginning of last year there were only 100 companies involved in blockchain, in the meantime there are 259. This is according to figures that BNR has requested from the Chamber of Commerce.

The growth is mainly due to small start-ups, says Jacob Boersma, blockchain expert at Deloitte. A distinction can be made between companies that really try to solve an existing problem and use new technology such as blockchain, and businesses that only ride on the hype.

To be sure that you are dealing with serious parties, you can check whether they have done business with large companies and well-known names, says Boersma. But above all it is important to see if their story is plausible.
