European Council supports AI recommendations of European Court of Auditors

The European Council recently approved a series of conclusions based on the report of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) on artificial intelligence (AI). That report sets out important recommendations for strengthening the European Union’s AI capacities.

Strengthening AI capacities

The ECA’s report highlights the need to scale up AI investments in the EU. This will be vital to retaining and improving Europe’s competitive position in the global arena. The recommendations concern various Digital and Information Technologies, including AI and Software Technologies & Computing. Focused investments in these technologies will allow Europe to play a leading role in the development and use of AI.

Cooperation

The European Council highlights the importance of cooperation in implementing the recommendations. Cooperation will allow government agencies, research institutes and companies to work together to develop innovative AI solutions that address societal challenges, from healthcare and climate change to industrial automation and cybersecurity.
