We would like to invite you to the 2nd AVR Challenge event, taking place on June 7th, at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK)
Unisys, Wavestone and CEPS, on behalf of DGReform and funded by the EU, are conducting the project "Enhancing Cybersecurity Education in the Netherlands". This project is being executed in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, TNO, dcypher and Dutch universities including VUSec, TU Delft, University of Twente, Radboud University, University Leiden, and University of Groningen. The project forms part of dcypher’s roadmap on Automated Vulnerability Research.
As part of this project, the 2nd AVR Challenge is being organized. The aim of the challenge is to identify vulnerabilities in software using automated tools, with the ultimate goal of having them fixed before they can be exploited by cybercriminals—an ever-increasing threat in our connected world.
During the challenge, teams of students will compete to find vulnerabilities in target software created by Secura. The challenge will commence in the first week of June and conclude with the 2nd AVR Challenge event on June 7th.
The event will begin with a walk-in lunch from 12:00 to 13:00, providing an opportunity for informal discussions and networking. The official programme will start at 13:00:
- 13:00-13:30: Welcome and introduction by the Ministry of EZK.
- 13:30-14:00: Presentation on the exploration study of AVR in education by Lorenzo Pupillo, CEPS.
- 14:00-15:30: Presentation of the AVR Challenge + pitches from the competing teams.
- 15:30-16:15: Three short presentations (presenters to be announced). Concurrently, the jury will discuss the pitches from the teams.
- 16:15-16:35: Award ceremony.
- 16:35-17:00: Reflections, lessons learned, and closing remarks.
- From 17:00 onwards: Drinks.
The target audience for this event includes individuals active in cybersecurity, software testing, education and talent development, both from a policymaking and hands-on application perspective.
